These pants have a simple design with a scale pattern on the other side of the pockets that is meant to ward off evil. The size can be adjusted with the waist ties, so they can be worn by all genders. Elements of straight cutting, a characteristic of Japanese sewing, have been incorporated to create a Kaya-like Japanese casual wear.
